VigilEye Privacy Policy
VigilEye helps you protect your own phone and space: it records video and audio, keeps an encrypted vault, scans for nearby Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices, and sounds an anti-theft alarm. This policy explains what data the app handles, where it goes, and the choices you have.
The short version
- Your recordings, intruder photos and vault files never leave your phone. We have no servers that receive them and no way to see them.
- Vault files are encrypted with AES-256 using a key held in your phone's Android Keystore.
- Room scans only listen for nearby signals on your phone. Scan results are not uploaded.
- We use Google Firebase for anonymous usage statistics and crash reports, Google AdMob to show ads to free users, and RevenueCat to manage Premium subscriptions.
- We do not sell your personal data.
Data that stays on your device
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Video, audio and photos you record, including "intruder" photos taken after a wrong PIN | The core features of the app. Stored encrypted in the app's private storage. Deleted when you delete them or uninstall the app. |
| App lock PIN (stored only as a salted hash) and settings | To lock the app and remember your preferences. |
| Nearby Wi-Fi networks and Bluetooth devices found during a room scan | To show you devices that may be hidden cameras. Android requires location permission for these scans; VigilEye does not record or upload your location. |
Data shared with service providers
| Provider | What it receives | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase Analytics | App interactions (for example which screens are opened), app version, device model, OS version, approximate country, an app-instance ID | Understanding which features are used so we can improve them |
| Google Firebase Crashlytics | Crash logs, device model, OS version, an installation ID | Finding and fixing crashes |
| Google Firebase Remote Config | An installation ID | Turning features (such as ads) on or off without an app update |
| Google AdMob (free version only) | Your device's advertising ID, IP address, approximate location, device and app information, ad interactions | Showing ads, measuring them, and preventing fraud. Ads may be personalised if you allow it. |
| Google Play Billing (Premium only) | Purchase and subscription status | Processing your subscription. We never see your payment details. |
| RevenueCat | A random app user ID created by the app (not linked to your name, email or Google account), the subscription plans on offer, your purchase and subscription status, purchase tokens from Google Play, app version, device model, OS version, country and language | Checking which plans you can buy and whether Premium is active, including after a reinstall or on another phone ("Restore purchase"). RevenueCat never receives your payment details. |
None of these services receive your recordings, photos, vault contents or scan results. Their own policies apply to the data they process: Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from apps that use its services, and RevenueCat Privacy Policy. Data sent to these services is encrypted in transit.
Your choices
- Ad consent. If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, VigilEye asks for your consent before showing personalised ads. You can change your answer at any time in Settings → Privacy → Ad privacy choices.
- Advertising ID. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's Android settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads).
- No ads. VigilEye Premium removes ads completely.
- Permissions. Camera, microphone, location, Bluetooth and notification permissions are requested only for the features that need them and can be revoked in Android settings at any time.
- Deleting data. Delete recordings in the app's Vault, or uninstall the app to remove everything stored on the device. To request deletion of analytics data linked to your app-instance ID, contact us using the address below.
Data retention
Recordings stay on your device until you delete them (or until the vault's storage limit you set removes the oldest ones). Firebase Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months, and Crashlytics crash data for up to 90 days. Subscription records are kept while you are a subscriber and as long as needed for accounting and refunds.
Children
VigilEye is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Recording responsibly
VigilEye always shows a notification while it records. It is intended for protecting your own property and space. Recording other people without their consent may be illegal where you live; you are responsible for using the app lawfully.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be announced in the app.
